VARSELIO

Varselio vs Lakera

Varselio is a Swedish security service that checks what your website chatbot or AI agent is about to say or do, in real time, and stops prompt injection, jailbreaks and data leaks before they cause harm, asking a human before risky actions.

Both products help protect AI chatbots and agents against prompt injection, jailbreaks and data leaks. They are built for different buyers. Lakera is described only with facts from its own public product page, checked on 25 October 2026. Products change, so check Lakera's page before you decide.

When to choose which

What is the main difference between Varselio and Lakera?

Lakera describes its product as AI Agent Security for enterprises: discovering AI agents and connected tools across an organisation, assessing risk and enforcing protection at runtime. Varselio is a ready service for companies of any size that checks what a chatbot or agent is about to say or do, stops dangerous messages and actions, and lets a human approve risky ones on the phone.

Is Lakera or Varselio cheaper?

Lakera does not list prices on its product page; it offers a free start and a demo booking. Varselio is free to start, then prepaid passes of 279, 1,419 or 2,259 SEK incl. VAT for 1, 6 or 12 months, and nothing renews automatically.

Which one should a small business choose?

A small business without a security team will usually want a ready service with simple pricing and a human approval step, which is what Varselio offers. An enterprise security team governing many agents may be better served by Lakera. Varselio is new and in public beta, so it has a shorter track record.

About prompt injection (OWASP LLM01)

Prompt injection is number one on the OWASP Top 10 for LLM applications: LLM01:2025 Prompt Injection. OWASP notes that it is unclear whether fool-proof prevention exists, and recommends layered measures such as input and output filtering, least privilege and human approval for high-risk actions.

Varselio reduces risk, but no security product is 100% secure: it cannot guarantee that every harmful message or action is detected.
